Wetland restoration

The Ferncliffe Catchment Conservancy is in the process of rehabilitating the Hampton Court wetland, which lies adjacent to the Hampton Court complex and below the intersection of Hawkins and Town Bush Roads. An extension of this wetland lies in the riparian corridor behind the Village Walk Centre. It is hoped that this degraded area will soon be a fully functional wetland and a habitat for a wide variety of birds and other fauna.

To assist in the project, interested members of the public are asked to donate a suitable indigenous tree and a bag of compost. The list of trees is available at the front desk at Dunrobin Nursery and will cost R80 per tree (VAT inclusive).

So far the response has been very pleasing, but because many people have informed us that they were unaware of the project, we have decided to extend the period for another week and so the final date for purchasing trees will now be March 8.

Any person who is willing to donate a tree can go to Dunrobin Nursery and select one from the list available. Dunrobin will order the trees and the public will be notified of the date on which we will plant the trees in holes that will have already been dug. We shall be delighted if you could come along and plant the tree you have donated.
