Scottsville Primary School Tree Planting 2009
It was a drizzly December day that about 85 grade 6 boys and girls went to plant trees in the open area along Town Bush Road. The Forestry Department provided a few men and women to assist. The children struck up a good rapport with the foresters and got stuck in to the task at hand.Mud was in ready supply and show inevitably became sodden which in turn lead the children to the stream. Many decided that is was great fun to wade downstream and they became very wet in the process.
We planted many different species of indigenous trees, ie Waterberries, Knobwood, Yellowwood, Jacket Plum, Tarwood, Natal Mahogany and Snuffbox. Close to 100 trees were planted.
The pupils had great fun and it was certainly a memorable occasion.
Well done to the Forestry Department and conservancies for creating these wonderful opportunities to enhance the environment.
